Beschreibung

The early history of fodder growing and utilization is lost in the unwritten pages of time. Pre-historic man had no need for such crops, since he supported himself as well as his family-members by picking barriers, digging roots, fishing, hunting, etc. Due to ever-increasing human population and pressing needs of most of the farmers for food, fibre and commercial crops. Thus, it is very difficult to increase the area under forages, albeit there is considerable scope to increase the production per unit area and to augment the supply of green fodder. Green fodder production is the most important single factor on which will depend the success of animal husbandry programme. Unfortunately, our country's dairy farmers are still not aware of importance of cultivating fodder crops to be provided to their animals for better nutrition and health care. However, of late, due to the efforts of Governmental programmes as well as other concerned agencies, the farmers slowly and slowly are being motivated to think in this direction
