'The Principle of Accessoriness in Security Rights' Accessoriness is one of the fundamental principles of security law. It denotes the dependence of a security right like mortgage, guarantee or lien on the secured claim. This postdoctoral thesis examines the development of the principle of accessoriness from Roman law to Prussian law in the 18th and 19th century up to the German Civil Code (BGB). A main focus is set on the non-accessory security rights.

Susanne Heinemeyer studierte von 2002 bis 2008 Rechtswissenschaft an den Universitäten Mainz und Aix-en-Provence. Nach der Ersten Prüfung 2008 in Mainz promovierte sie bei Peter Gröschler (Universität Mainz) mit einer Arbeit zum römischen Recht und legte 2012 die Zweite juristische Prüfung ab. Anschließend habilitierte sie sich am Lehrstuhl von Peter Gröschler mit einer Arbeit zum Kreditsicherungsrecht. Seit Mai 2016 ist Heinemeyer Privatdozentin.
